Pocket Books was the first publisher in America to offer the new book format of the paperback. In 1939 Pocket Books was founded by Simon & Schuster partner Robert Fair de Graff, publishing the small format reprints and light literature with the soon-to-be- famous kangaroo logo, and the shortages of the war years were conducive to paperbacks. Pocket Books is now a division of Simon & Schuster, and carries on the tradition of providing affordable, popular SF/F stories still today.
