History

Hesperus Press has been a celebrated publisher of classic books for more than a decade, famous for handpicking quality literature from the UK and around the world.

After a successful 2012 which saw Hesperus celebrate its tenth anniversary and publish the worldwide bestseller The Hundred-Year-Old-Man Who Climbed out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson, two new imprints were added to the Hesperus repertoire.

Hesperus Nova showcases contemporary fiction and non-fiction designed to entertain and inspire. In keeping with our ethos of introducing English-speaking audiences to previously inaccessible literature, the core of the list is translated literature from around the globe.

Hesperus Minor rediscovers carefully selected, well-loved children's books from the past with the aim of introducing them to a new generation. These are books which will bring back fond memories for adults, perfect for sharing with their children and loved ones.

At Hesperus we are passionate about each and every book we publish, putting care and attention into stunning cover design, high production values, commissioning world-class translations and engaging forewords. Our extensive list now numbers some three hundred books by many of the greatest literary figures in world history, as well as sensational contemporary and debut authors well worth discovering.
