Admin Posts: 4008 Location: Dallas, Texas | I cast my vote for Damon Knight. He's the namesake for the award after all. I really should have made reading one from him a requirement for the challenge from the beginning.

Uber User Posts: 1465 Location: The Netherlands | You got a few people who agree with you Dave, but so far Bradbury has taken the lead. Poll is open for a while yet!

Elite Veteran Posts: 1033 Location: UK | Its hard to choose. Some are longtime favourites, such as Hal Clement's Mission of gGravity.Or are fun reads, like early Heinlein.Probably I would go with Bester's The Stars my Destination,a major classic of the genre.

Uber User Posts: 794 | Well I posted a comment but it disappeared when I clicked on publish. I suggested either Joe Haldeman since your reading list suggests you like more modern SF and Michael Moorcock since you like fantasy.

Uber User Posts: 263 Location: Gunnison, Colorado | My two cents: Extend your personal challenge for another year and get through that entire list...

Uber User Posts: 526 Location: UK | In my case, I'm not sure whether to bump Lester del Rey for Connie Willis or Brian Aldiss. Aldiss was originally on my list, but I replaced him with Fritz Leiber when I got hold of The Wanderer. Two of the Helliconia books won BSFA awards, so that would be a useful way to double up. Connie Willis was not a Grand Master when I made my original picks, but I do have Blackout/All Clear still to read for the Hugos. On the other hand, I don't think I've ever read anything by del Rey. I might try to cram all three in, but the Willis and Aldiss books are long.

Uber User Posts: 39 | I struggled to finish Heleconia Spring, but Greybeard, Non Stop, and Hothouse were great and much more manageable in length
