New User Posts: 4 Location: Moscow | Greetings from Russia! I am new to your community, thus I may be repearing an already many times asked question: Is there any ranking based on user books ratings on this site? Didn't meet any. Second questions: Would you be making it possible for users to see WWEnd Most Listed ranking (the major one, as at seems for me now) with only the selected lists of their choice. For example, I don't like horror or sceptic about the value of banned status to the book and would like to exclude those lists from the Most Listed ranking. Probably it won't shake the tops that much, but still. Costumizable WWEnd Most Listed would be a nice feature to have. Anyway, you are awesome!

Admin Posts: 4003 Location: Dallas, Texas | Hello Chrome and welcome to WWEnd! We're glad to have you aboard. We don't currently have a member rating list but we have talked about building one many times. Our initial problem was that we didn't have enough data to make a worthwhile list. We've certainly got enough now to take a crack at it but what we don't have is a proper way to determine list order. We have yet to come up with an algorithm that will take into account all the factors like number of reads, number of ratings and the average rating etc. and spit back out a listing that fairly weighs a book with 200 ratings against a newer book that has only a dozen. As far as filtering for the top ranked list that's not something we've ever thought of doing. I'm sure it could be done but I don't know what kind of effort that would be to code for it. I like the idea but our list of new features is mighty long and I don't see this as cracking the top 10 priority wise but I'll see what the guys have to say. I'm glad you think the site is awesome!

New User Posts: 4 Location: Moscow | First of all, I do appreciate your fast answer! Regarding the rating I was talking only in the context of 1 to 5 stars users' marks in average bottom-down. But If you would like to put some weight of the amount of voices into it, I then recommend one particular stat model. Here it is: Rating = V / (V + M) * R + M / (V + M) * RR V for number of voices, M for minimal number of voices you see statistically adequate to count on, R for average star rating of the particular book, RR for average star rating of all books. As a result, if a good book wants to get upwards out of the mediocre fiction rating level, it does have to collect a few voices, not just 10-20. Filtering the lists - got your message. Wish you good luck in all your coding priorities and hope to see some nice results soon

Uber User Posts: 794 | Wouldn't this tend to obscure little read books with high ratings? Ash: A Secret History for example with 27 reads and 17 ratings. I, for one, would like to be able to winnow these out as they are often hidden gems, unfairly ignored.

I found that trying to go through the list of my (or anyone else's) Books Read to see which have been rated is very difficult, as the little gray box with the rating number tends to fade into the rest of the page. Could a section be added to the "My Profile" page (or to the "My Novel Ratings" page) called "Books I've Rated" be added with only rated novels accompanied by stars instead the gray box? Or change the "Books I've Read" section to show stars rather than the gray box?

Stars are on the list of future improvements already. No idea when we'll get to it but we will some day.
