Biography
Pippa Goldschmidt grew up in London and now lives in Edinburgh. She has a PhD in Astronomy from the Royal Observatory in Edinburgh and worked as an astronomer for several years at Imperial College. She also has a Masters of Literature in Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow.
She was awarded a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award in 2012 and has worked as a writer-in-residence at several academic institutions including most recently the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg in Germany. Her short stories, poetry and non-fiction have been broadcast on Radio 4 and published in a wide variety of publications including Gutter, New Writing Scotland and the New York Times, as well as in anthologies such as The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2014 and Be the First to Like This: New Scottish Poetry. She has also worked as a policy advisor for both the UK and Scottish Governments on a variety of issues, including the regulation of activities in outer space, and homelessness.
