Tansy Rayner Roberts is an Australian fantasy and non-fiction writer and editor who holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), and completed a PhD in Classics in 2007, both from the University of Tasmania.

Her works have been nominated for, and won, Aurealis, Ditmar, WSFA Small Press, George Turner Prize, and William Atheling Jr. Awards. In addition, as part of the Galactic Suburbia podcast team, she has received three nominations for the Hugo Best Fancast Award, another nomination as part of the Verity! Dr. Who podcast team, and in 2013 she won the Hugo Award for Best Fan Writer. Her short stories have been published in a variety of genre magazines, including Andromeda Spaceways, Inflight Magazine, and Aurealis.

Roberts was one of the founding members of Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine. In 2013, she was elected Overseas Director for the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA). She also writes crime fiction as Livia Day.

She lives with her partner and their two daughters in a messy house with lots of bookshelves in Tasmania.
