Doesn't live up to what is expected from a PKD novel. The characters are interesting and engaging, but the ending is just inscrutable.
A future history where the Axis powers win WWII has the makings for a great story, and the characterizations are done well. But the book falls down with the plot. Nothing seems to be going toward any purpose until Julianna's trip to the "High Castle" at the end, but it leads nowhere (at least nowhere the reader can fully appreciate). Dick perhaps is trying for some deep metaphysical meaning, but I am not getting it.
