I reread this novel for the first time in nearly 30 years. I had read it several times as a child and a teen and always enjoyed, however much of the religious foundations of the work I was unaware of at the time. I have since seen the movies as well. I read this version as an audio book read by Michael York (Basil of the Austin Powers movies). His reading of the novel was excellent and easy to follow. I enjoyed the spirit of the novel and found it still to be enjoyable as an adult. The plotting was simple and rather straightforward as in many children's books. The tone was charming and the characters still engaging after all these years. I plan to see how the other novels in the series stand up to a rereading. Recommended for children or anyone who wants to recapture the feelings of childhood.
