A Life for the Stars

This book, the second in the Cities in Flight series, was written six years after the first book, They Shall Have Stars. It takes place a millennium later. The writing is different in style and tenor. The protagonist is a teenage boy. It puts me in mind of the books in Robert A Heinlein's juvenile series.
