The Calculating Stars

This is an exceptionally written novel. The story is so-so, the plot is mostly off screen, not a lot of action, the issues in question are often only of consequence to the characters, but still, it was a thrilling ride, and a novel that I could not put down.

OK, I'm quite partial to the topics of the book, but that was only enough to hook me in, as most of the first chapters are in an apocalyptic whirlwind. After that, the story of the book, is basically boring, yet extremely compelling. In short this is my favorite book of the year to date.
