Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman is a wonderful collection of short stories. In just a few pages, the author vividly captures a moment in time with fully realized characters. There is a philosophical message in each story, but it is understated and subtle, and I often only fully realized what the author was conveying after days of reflection. This was my first time reading Murakami and it will definitely not be my last. I now understand Murakami Fandom and have joined those who consider him a literary master.
