| Hi
I want to recommend an author that I think most people will not have heard of. His name is Samit Basu and he is an Indian author. He has written a series called The GameWorld Trilogy, a fantasy trilogy published by Penguin Books, India. The three books are The Simoqin Prophecies, The Manticore's Secret and The Unwaba Revelations.
I spent three months in India a few years back and was interested to see the large amount of english language books published locally. I discovered the first two books at a great bookshop called Idiom Booksellers in Fort Cochin Kerala. I have only read the first two as the third had not been published when I was there.
They are well written and are an interesting mix of fantasy with an Indian feel/themes, they are also quite humorous and reminded me of Terry Pratchetts disk world.
They seem to be available from Amazon.
"The Simoqin Prophecies marks the debut of an assured new voice. Written with consummate ease and brimming with wit and allusion, it is at once classic SFF and subtle spoof, featuring scantily clad centauresses, flying carpets, pink trolls, belly dancers and homicidal rabbits. Monty Python meets the Ramayana, Alice in Wonderland meets The Lord of the Rings and Robin Hood meets The Arabian Nights in this novel-a breathtaking ride through a world peopled by different races and cultures from mythology and history."
