Location: Great Lakes, USA | What I read in July:
Eyes of the Void - Adrian Tchaikovsky. Excellent. Can't wait for the sequel.
Star Trek The Entropy Effect - Vonda N. McIntyre. A good Star Trek novel.
11/22/63 - Stephen King. Good, but a little too long.
Relic - Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Good. I probably would have liked it better had I not read it right after reading Cemetery Dance and Two Graves which had zombies and Nazis in them. I don't like zombies or Nazis. At least Relics just had a monster in it.
The Employees - Olga Ravn. Interesting.
The Exiled Fleet - JS Dewes. Finally finished this. It got better at the end. I may or may not read the sequel.
A Prayer For the Crown-Shy - Becky Chambers. Good, but I really had a hard time with the pronoun they in this one. It got confusing because sometimes it was first person singular and sometimes plural. I had to keep backtracking to see who was being referenced. I love Mosscap and will keep reading these.
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon - Stephen King. Meh. I am too sleep deprived at the moment to get into a stream of consciousness novel about a lost nine year old. I am putting a dent in the Stephen King books that were given to me, though.
Local flea market has a permanent used bookstore in it! I found lots of Ace Doubles and pulpy stuff. Perfect for the sleep deprived! Maybe a Pulp Challenge is in order.

Location: UK | Oh dear, bad reading month, only read 1 of the 5 SF/F on my TBR. Did read several lightweight kindle unlimited stuff, urban fantasy and horror, but they are not on WWEnd lists. Checking my lists,I have read no less than 22 indie books this year which dont show up on WWEnd lists. Will have to pull my socks up and read more legitimate stuff or I'll never get to my 100 titles for the 2022 Books Read challenge!
So August I need to buckle down and read more SF instead of crime and urban fantasy.
Plus continue on reading some 1930s golden age stuff every month. I love the section ''books published by year'' Started with 1930,m now ready to do 1934.I have a soft spot for the vintage stuff. |
